The Roccat Syn Pro Air is a wireless gaming headset that comes with good sound and some good features. It has a quality mic and a comfortable price. But what you have heard all this time is it is frustrating to use. But is it true? To check this out, I have decided to take a chance by purchasing this for myself. I purchased this product just to identify it is really frustrating to use or what. So, let’s start the article and check my Roccat gaming headset review.
All about Roccat Syn Pro Air gaming headset
The Roccat Syn Pro Air gaming headset comes with good sound quality, and this is what a gamer needs. The additional feature of this gaming headset is its fit, features, and software functionality that makes this headset up to the mark. This headset is great for gamers. It comes with a great microphone and USB-C functionality that helps this to connect with handheld Switch, PS5, or mobile phone without difficulty.
Well, my overall experience with the Roccat Syn Pro Air was not that pleasant. According to my case, the buggy software doesn’t let you customize much. The very bad thing which happens to me is I am stuck with loud, frequent, and irritating notification tones. Yes, it has a good fit, but in my case, I thought it’s a little tight. It doesn’t turn off by itself. As per my review, At $150, it’s an expensive headset, and somewhere it offers much fewer features as compared to the other brands that cost the same. Roccat has developed so many decent gaming headsets, no doubt, but it is a little clumsy and costlier than those.
Roccat Syn Pro Air review: Design
When it comes to design, The Roccat Syn Pro Air has an unassuming gaming headset. The gaming headset comes with a black plastic chassis with large fabric earcups and a removable mic. When you turn the headset on, it has some gorgeous RGB honeycomb designs on the earcups, but while you are playing, it turns off. On the right earcup, there’s a USB-C charging port, a power button, and a dial that adjusts the mic sidetone.
If we talk about the left earcup, then there’s a volume dial. You can’t connect the Syn Pro Air to 3.5 mm audio jacks, and you can’t reprogram the dials to control other sound qualities. The best thing about this product is it comes with both a USB-C adapter and a USB-A wireless dongle. Another best perk that I like about this product is it fits easily into any laptop, desktop, PS4, or PS5. It also works with the Nintendo Switch in both handhelds and docked modes, and this feature is rarely available in wireless gaming headsets.
Roccat Syn Pro Air review: Comfort
When it comes to The Roccat Syn Pro Air comfort level, then it has a tight fit. You can customize the fit by adjusting the peripheral. Well, the adjustment process is a little difficult. Most of the headset comes with the steel or elastic band, but the Syn Pro Air relies on rods on the headband that move up and down. It doesn’t place well in its position, and this default setting is a tedious process. The good thing is I never experienced any pain after wearing this.
Roccat Syn Pro Air review: Performance
When it comes to the performance of Roccat Syn Pro Air, then it delivers amazing sound quality. I ran this gaming headset while playing the matches like Definitive Edition, Baldur’s Gate III, Doom Eternal, and Final Fantasy XIV and was impressed with the audio across the board. I am fully impressed with this performance. The quality of sound is also good when you play movies, music and all. The Syn Pro Air provided a rich, nuanced sound that balanced bass and treble, as well as voices and instruments. It is also accessible with consoles and mobile devices as well.
Roccat Syn Pro Air review: Features
- The Roccat Syn Pro Air’s sound quality is amazing, and it is versatile. The other Roccat gadgets run on the passable Roccat Swarm software, but Syn Pro Air uses a program called Neon.
- The Syn Pro Air’s microphone is good for speaking over video chat. The quality was excellent, and it is smoothly optimizing my voice and minimizing background noise.
What problems did I face after buying this?
The biggest issue which I faced after buying this is downloading and installing Neon. After I downloaded this, it told me that I had to download an update for the Syn Pro Air. The installation process is really confusing. After I downloaded it once again, it again showed that I had to download yet another update. After I restarted the program, It starts well without showing any update notification that clearly make a bad Roccat gaming headset review.
The bigger issue which I have gone through is when you adjust some equalization settings, you can’t set up individual profiles for games and other apps. It doesn’t allow you to adjust the incredibly loud, obnoxious notification tones, and it plays continuously whenever you start up and shut down the device. You can’t adjust the mic sidetone; set a timer to turn the device off after a period of inactivity. It means the Syn Pro Air will stay on until you turn it off and it runs out the batteries.
Even after you restart the headset, the Neon software will claim that there are no devices connected. So, therefore you have to turn the Syn Pro Air off manually every time you step away from your PC; that is a negative point. I spoke with a representative from Roccat, who told me that the company is aware of it and they are planning to recover this.

Roccat Syn Pro Air review: Verdict
The Roccat Syn Pro Air gaming headset offers amazing sounds. However, it’s also hard to use, hard to wear, and hard to justify, and the price is a little costlier and this is my Roccat gaming headset review.
Since many of Syn Pro Air’s issues stem from the Neon Software, it’s possible that the headset will improve over time. If not, then we’ll have to wait for the next Roccat headset and a stable software release.
